PIECING MOSAIC TILE DESIGNS

Although you can use one of my designs, you are strongly encouraged to design and create your own mosaic tile quilt. Sources of inspiration might include floors (be sure to look at the bathroom floors of public buildings), but can also be geometric ceilings, patterns in brickwork and even wrapping paper. Bring photographs of interesting patterns and shapes. These can become the basis for your design. You will learn to draft a pattern and to include details from your source photos.

If you prefer to learn the piecing technique without designing your own quilt, you may start with one of my designs. You may choose your project from my book Masterful Machine Pieced Quilts and bring your printed pattern to class. If you do not have the book or do not choose to print the pattern yourself, I can bring a printed pattern for you. I can provide patterns for each of the quilts that appear on this page.

Please let me know if you want me to provide a printed pattern. Having this information at least two weeks before class will allow me sufficient time to be sure to have a pattern ready for you..
